Maurizio Bignone born in Italy in 1968 he graduated in viola at the Conservatory of Music "V. Bellini" in Palermo. Since the 5th year is part of some of the most important chamber orchestras Sicilian covering, a few years later, the role of first instrument. He was a member of various chamber ensemble (from duo to sextet) developed considerable experience in the field of contemporary music. He performs a diverse repertoire of classical and contemporary works with different collaborative artists from many genres of music making. He was a member of several orchestras such as the Orchestra of the Teatro Massimo of Palermo, Romana International Orchestra, Orchestra of contemporary music OCM, Chamber Orchestra of Palermo, Chamber Orchestra "Gli Armonici", Sicilian Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra of the Conservatory of Music Palermo "Vincenzo Bellini", KZN Philharmonic Orchestra Durban (South Africa) and many other performing, at the same time, an intense concert activity in Italy and abroad. He also participated as viola soloist in numerous theatrical works and orchestral. In 1992 he began his career as a composer. Initially his music combine writing classical language ethnic and jazz, then moving towards a more contemporary language. The Kronos Quartet (the most important string quartets in the world of contemporary music) after a performance has asked to include in their repertoire his song "chador". He has composed numerous international soundtracks for short films, film, theater, documentaries and commercials, winning numerous first prizes. It has more than 10 CDs as both performer and as a composer. He composed and performed the music for the "Conquest" CD, unique project in the world for solo viola and electronics. In this project Maurizio Bignone shows all the countless tonal possibilities of this extraordinary instrument. This work has been performed in many italian theaters. His music is requested and performed by musicians and orchestras from all over the world, are included in the most important bills as "Festival dei due mondi" in Spoleto, the Teatro Massimo of Palermo, Amici della musica of Palermo, Novara, Milan, Mazara del Vallo, Trapani, Conservatory of Palermo, Perugia, Bari, Festival of Contemporary Music in Novosibirsk (Russia), Orestiadi Gibellina, Womad, Germany, France, England, Belgium, USA, Japan, Australia, Brazil, Singapore etc. and they are very present on the channels on youtube and itunes. From November 2016 he works closely with the soloist violist Brett Deubner, writing for him many world premieres, infact all new compositional production will be dedicated to the viola, as the sonata for viola solo "Obsession" and the 12 caprices - concerto. In 2007 he created the label "U07 Records", independent record label that deals mainly with contemporary classical music. He also publishes classical and contemporary classical music. He called as president and sworn in numerous national and international competitions.
